I got a year out of my old GL when I noticed only 2 days after the boot
was compromised. (I think the brake shop did it after I told them to
shove their estimate up their collective you-know-whats and put it back
together so I can come and get it and do it myself, as it was a nice,
clean,
straight cut. but what do I know) I got a local shop to just put a boot
on it if I relinquished the guarantee on their work. About a year later
it started to make noise and I got the halfshaft replaced.
YMMV though. There is still alot of debris and dust that is kicked up
even from a dry non-dirt road. It doesn't take much to ruin a CV joint.
I'd at least get a new boot on it as soon as you can.
