$7k or less, huh? Nissan 300zx non-turbo (uses an interference engine,
don't know when they switched from timing belt to chain). Toyota MR2 Turbo
and non-turbo. Any 3-series BMW, E30's are awesome (87-91), stay away from
E36 BMW's (3-series from 91-97) as they have problems with the GM sourced
automatics. You can even find some nice BMW 5-series and 7-series in this
price range (early-90's 750il's can be found for around $7k, but don't do
well on fuel mileage). 7-series cars are little more expensive to maintain,
but not by much. You can stick with a 525i, and have about the same running
cost as a 325i. By comparison, the running costs for my 325i AND 325 have
been far lower than for the SHO, even factoring in the higher mileage I put
on the BMW's.

If you want a little more luxury, an M-B C-class is nice. Later model V6
Mustangs are nice, too. Honda Preludes are around the $7 mark. Mazda
626es. Infiniti J30 and G20 are good candidates. J30 shares allot with the
Nissan 300zx, but in a sleek 4-door shell, while the G20 could be thought of
as a larger Nissan Sentra SE-R, but allot more luxurious. Toyota Celica GT.
Acura Integra.

That's about all I can think of...

Subject: [Shotimes] (OT) What cars do you find interesting? (for $7K or

I am making a trip to the used car mall tonight to scout for a commuting car
to drive to work and school. My budget is around $7K, and I am looking for
something fairly new that requires nothing more than routine maintenance,
gets good gas mileage and has an auto transmission, but is at the same time
interesting and high in fun factor. Another SHO is not in the list of
options. So, in this price range, what cars would you find the most
interesting? This will help give me some ideas on what to look for.
Thanks.
