EMRA is holding a time trail event at Watkins Glen Oct 19. If you live near
the area (within a days drive) this is well worth the time and $$. Watkins
Glen is a great track, high speed, high grip. 3.4 mile. This is a great way
to get some track time (should get 3 practice sessions) AND get timed laps as
you run against the clock and against everybody else. It's fun to see how you
stack up against other cars and drivers. Lots of fun.
For time trails you don't need much other than a car that's mechanically track
ready, longs pants/shirt and a snell helmet. EMRA follows pretty much SCCA
rules (even though SCCA doesn't even clasify the SHO) EMRA has the SHO put in
ST2 group. Mods will bump you up a class although I've told the head tech guy
everything my 89 has and he still runs it in ST2 :) The ST2 guys are starting
to whine though, so I will probably be up to ST1 or STGT soon...as it is
though, a stock SHO with good tires/brakes would compete fine in ST2 or ST1.
Would be cool to get some more SHO's there, as it is I'm the only one that has
been running with them recently.

If nothing else this is a great time to get some laps at one of the best
tracks in the country. It's also nice to get a few laps in full bore all by
yourself with the timers on.
