Heres more details on the Lapeer Dragway day on Saturday, October 25th. Not
really keeping track of all of the interest (not like we need $$$ to rent
the track or anything), but conservatively it looks like we could have 30-50
cars, there has been a lot of interest!! The weather is cooling down here,
so if the weatherman cooperates, we could have a day in the high-40s-low-50s
and sunny!!

To recap, it is their usual Test-n-Tune Day from Noon until 5-6 PM, with a
free Trophy Race that they run in the 1/8 mile about 4 PM or so (for those
of you with consistent 1/8 mile timesthe strip is a full < mile, though).
Check their website for details, but one requirement is that all cars that
run MUST have a helmet (any one will do) and they rent them for $5. $25 to
run, $10 to watch.

We haven't blocked a hotel, but we send folks to the Motel 6 on Opdyke in
Auburn Hills. Rates are $42.99 - $48.99 - $51.99 - $54.99 for 1-2-3-4
people. What's nice is that it's the "old-style" one-story building where
you can park outside your door, so it's easy to socialize out there if need
be. From http://www.motel6.com/

MOTEL 6 - Detroit North - Auburn Hills
Auburn Hills, MI, U.S.A. #1065
Hwy Locator: I-75 at exit #79, University Dr
Phone: (248) 373-8440

There are a lot of moderately-priced hotels on Opdyke along that stretch of
road in Auburn Hills (D-C HQ is very close), so others are available.
Literally about everything is there, so if you have a favorite, check their
website, but heres a list. Most are within a < mile, and the Hilton is a
mile south.

Hampton Inn
Holiday Inn - Select
Amerisuites
Comfort Inn
Candlewood Suites
Marriott Courtyard (one of my favorite mid-priced hotels)
Fairfield Inn
ExtendedStay America
Hilton Suites

The plan is to meet at the Big Buck microbrewery around 9 PM on Friday night
(10/24) for brews and BS. It is almost across the street from the Motel 6,
and you could walk if you wanted!!

We then head out to Lapeer on Saturday. We will plan on dinner at a
restaurant in Lapeer after racing (around 5-6 PM). Depending on the size of
the group, it will either be E.G. Nicks or Firewater Willies (if the group
is larger). This is so a few of the folks who take I-69 back home can head
home easily after dinner.

For the evening festivities, for those in the area, or those who are staying
on Saturday night, we will be having a get-together at the Ryan Dudek/Tara
Mofield Ranch, where beverages (for both the over 21 and under-21 set) will
be provided, as well as snacks and other stuff. They have a large lot for
parking, as well as room for big bonfires!! They live maybe 5 miles from the
hotels, so it is convenient!! Good time to defend yourselves as to why you
didnt turn your best times under perfect weather and track conditions!!

Hope many of you can make it, and cross your fingers for good weather!!
