[Shotimes] Sway Bar Help??

LOL that's why I had you ride with me that last run at Blackhawk. I wanted
to LEARN how to drive, rather than just follow everyone else :-)

Tires were one of the biggest upgrades I made to my car. I'm still noving my
Yokohama ES100's after 9k miles of street and the drag/track time they saw
at the convention. The 24/26 made a noticable difference in my car, but it
anything was gonna feel better than the "bamboo sticks" that I had. My car's
build date is/was 4/94 or 5/94 (I can't remember which) so that might be why
I got the crappy combo.

Somewhere in the '94 model year, there was a switch from the '93 24/23 combo
to the bamboo-stick 20.xx combo. Don't totally understand, but mine is an
early '94 that had the 24/23 combo.

Now, as with brakes, an upgrade doesn't necessarily change the ultimate
10/10ths handling, but it changes the "feel". On this '94, I went to the
26mm rear to replace the 23mm rear, and had no difference on the street,
felt good on the track, though.

On the previous '95, it had the 20.xx bamboo sticks, and I went to the 24/26
combo. Stiffer bars stiffen the suspension response in everyday driving, but
I can't say that the ultimate corning on my favorite off-ramp was
necessarily quicker.

The one thing to remember is that stiffer suspension components may feel
more solid, but also sharpen the breakaway point. It may not be the case
that bigger bars make you quicker.....they may make you feel better, but not
alter the ultimate performance.

Tires are still one of the best handling items....along with wheels that
match the tires. This is for cornering as well as braking.

IMHO, a well-experienced driver could take a stock '95 SHO with stock tires
and walk away from an average driver with all of the suspension goodies.
Driving technique is very important.

Well last I knew the SHOshop was clearing out their 29mm rear bars on a
"sale". I'm surprised your 94 had a 24mm up front, my 94 MTX had a 20.6 and
a 21 in the rear, and it handled like crap. I put in a 24/26 combo, and now
it feels very very neutral. I notice just a little understeer, I mean very
little when I get on it on the onramps. Other than that my car feels very
pridictable. You may want to try a 26 first if you can find one at a good
price before plunking down the cash on a 28-29mm bar. Granted I have a load
of other suspension mods done so that prolly plays into why my car feels the
way it does.

Hello Group!

I have a '94 SHO MTX. Due to poor handling characteristics I measured the
sway bars and they are at 24mm in the front, and 23mm in the rear. Lots of
understeer!

I would like to keep the 24mm bar in front, but I am looking for a 28mm for
the rear... Any ideas on where to find a reasonably priced unit? Also, from
what I have read this seems to be a good balance, any comments?

Thanks so much!
