A while back I had posted on my attempt to modify the strut towers
to decrease negative camber and increase positive caster, needed by
some us running a modified suspension with the likes of Tokicos and
Eibachs. At the time I did the work, I neglected to take pictures
of the slots I made in the towers so here are two that are quite
good.

Couple of things to note. I marked the location of the strut plates
with a permanent marker so as not to lose the benefit of the
alignment I had done. Also you will note that stamped on the tower
are some crosshairs that are presumably to note the limits of where
the strut can be located in the tower.

I had opened these up to try adding the fender washers that Georgy
Fourchy was suggesting earlier as a quick fix for the sticking
during the rotation of the struts during steering. After test
driving the car (there is still some groaning, I'm concluding that
one of the strut bearings may be bad, this observation being made
because when I had the car up and manipulating the bearing itself,
one was moving more freely than the other. This will a topic for
another time as I want to now disassemble the strut assembly and
inspect all the hardware.
