The factory put in two different of plugs on every motor,
one with the platinum on the ground electrode and the other
on the center. Replacement plugs were dual platinum since
the customer was paying for them and mechanics would be hard
pressed to do it right.
we know from experience though, that this has nothing to do
with later mechanics only replacing the front plugs and
never touching the back plugs, that happens a LOT with a lot
of cars with plugs that are hard to get to. Mechanic
replaces the easy ones, starts the car, if it runs good,
they forget about the tough ones. I know that this happened
a lot with the SHO back plugs. Probably with the V8 too.
