That's exactly what it is.  I drove it today, and after it warmed up, I tried the
suction test.  It failed.  I have another intake that was off the spare engine I got
for the black car several years ago.  I'll swap them after making sure its passages
are open.

So all the questions are answered except where is this roaring sound coming from,
and why did it lose power at speed after it had been on the freeway for an hour or
so.

Hopefully this old original intake has more problems than just the plugged passages.
 It sure looks bad, with all the rubbinig and whatever on the top.  It's allowed to
be this way, since it has been on the engine ever since everything was new.

I'll swap them today or tomorrow morning.
