In fact, I did pass emissions without it, but with not much room to spare. I was
thinking I had maxed out the NOx, but in looking at the sheet from the machine, I
had maxed out the HCs at the slow speed. That indicates my cats are tired. They
shouldn't be, but they apparently are. It might have to borrow Diamond's PP
stainless Y-pipe if I were to smog it again, which I don't plan on doing....it
should be retired by then.
In order to disconnect/disregard the EGR, there would have to be a different PCM
installed, one from a 49 state car, without the EGR programing, otherwise I'd get a
continuous CE light.
Since I have the other intake, I think I'll try to solve the problem that way.
There might be other things going on with the original intake that I don't know of,
so a swap seems the easiest way to solve the several remaining problems. It looks
better, too.
