[Shotimes] radio/cd player change

I need some hints as to what kind of radio/cd player would be good.
The '95MTX SHO that I got a month ago from David Bonds has an "iffy" Clarion
radio/cd. The stupid volume/everything control usually doesn't work. It is
almost impossible to even change the volume. And the stupid cd changer is a
5 disk unit that occupies valuble space in the center consul (sp?).
I would like to trash the whole thing!
Would like to know who makes a really reliable radio? Would like real knobs
for volume and tuner, but could suffer with the up/down buttons if it was
easy to use and RELIABLE! Sound quality is secondary, since I usually
listen only to the scanner and the CB, only turning on the radio for traffic
reports and then to music (classical or jazz) when I get stuck in the
typical Chicago "creap and crawl" s**t.
Also, what brand would be the quickest to install? Time to install another
radio is important, since work has been an 80 hour week and the house is
falling down around me...
Wally World has Sony stuff on sale. About 20-40% off regular price. Is that
any good?, Or should I pop for a $300 unit at the local speciality car
stereo place? Or just take my chances with a $60 no-name unit from
AutoZone?
