[Shotimes] IRCM Compatibility

George,

I can tell you the fan will come on immediately with the key at ON when
the ground to the ECM is undone. That's quick and easy to check. Could
be the IRCM too, since it houses the relay for the fan, but don't rule
out the rest of electrical system.

I know there are differences in MTX IRCMs, but don't know the exact
details. I'd think all 90's would be the same though.

Hey all...

I have two other 1990 IRCMs available, in cars that are running, that
I'm thinking
of trying in the Lowrider to see if that is the problem. The one in
the Lowrider
has a red label with "M" as the large letter in the center. I haven't
looked at the
others, but as I say, they are both '90s.

Lowrider's other symptom that makes me think it is the IRCM is the fact
that when
the key goes to on, the cooling fan starts up....somewhere in the past
I've heard
that was a symptom of a bad IRCM. I'll read the codes before I do
anything...I
didn't have my jumper at the failure site.

Are all IRCMs from a given year compatable with each other? I'd think
ATXs would
use a different one than an MTX after 1993, but that isn't a concern
here.

Anyone have any experience? Al Fitz has another one on the way to me,
and I'll
definitely plug it in, but in the meantime, am I risking anything?

Thanks!!

George
