[Shotimes] Lighter bonnets

Speaking of hoods, I heard a story today that was new to me.

The son of a friend of mine has a Kia and wanted to lighten his
hood, so he took a dremmel to it and cut the underside support
structure out of it, but left the hinge mounting points.  Then he
used racing hood clamps to secure the hood in place.  He told me
that after doing this he weighed the hood at 5 lbs.

Has this been done successfully to a Taurus hood?
