[Shotimes] Smoking engine

Was the A/C on at the time of the "spirited driving"? If so it is possible
that the compressor is the culprit. I have noticed and heard from others
that the compressor doesn't really like it up around the 7K range.
According to one person the SHO doesn't have a WOT A/C cutout like many
other cars have. What it has instead is a timed eight second cutout that
will allow the compressor to drop out for rapid acceleration and then
restart after that period of time. When I do a high speed blast I have
always turned it off first.

What's up all.

My SHO has developed a new and exciting problem. I noticed it the other day
after some spirited driving at night. With my headlights on I was able to
see some smoke coming out from under the hood. So, I popped the hood and
got my trusty MagLite out and tracked the smoke down to the accessory belt
area. If I had to guess, I would say it smelled like burnt rubber smoke.
Definitely not oil or coolant.

So, what gives? My first guess was that it could be a pulley going bad
causing the belt to drag (and burn). Rembember I've got an automatic
tensioner and only the one belt (ATX). I suppose the tensioner itself could
go bad (although that's never been a hot topic among SHOwners) but the
tension on the belt seems about right.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
