Not to be accused of beating a dead horse, but the first EGR codes I got on Lowrider
were after it had 1/ gone 260,000 miles, and 2/ sat a year (thru the winter) with
condensation building up and drying out, then doing it again and again, every day
when it was cold and damp, allowing what buildup there was in the EGR passages to
soften, and get sucked into the 90 degree turn under the throttle body after it
started running again.

The average SHO engine, EGR or not, probably doesn't have (Ford added accessories
not included) 10% of potential wear or deterioration by the time it crosses the
first 100,000 mile mark.
