[Shotimes] OT - Atkins

I talked to my Dr. about it and even though he wouldn't come right out and
say "Do Atkins", he explained that with my health issues (high cholesterol,
high triglycerides, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, gout) that a
restricted carb diet would do wonders for all of that. I currently take 12
different medicines a day and besides costing a fortune, even with a good
health plan, I feel like crap every day. I am at 240 and only 5' 10". The
last time I was happy and only on a couple drugs was 190. I wasn't a
diabetic which is the big thing.
I'm going to give this the old college try.

It's interesting you mention being concerned with cholesteral. My family
has the same issues with having high blood pressure and high cholesterol
levels, yet my Mother and I both had really low levels last time we got
checked, well into the healthy range. It lowered itself since we had gone
on Atkins. I can't really explain it other than being in Ketosis makes you
burn fat consistently, and I assume that is what's lowering the cholesterol
in your blood. I don't have my masters in human biology so I'm not sure if
that's even close to the way it works.
