Has anyone  ever replaced the  cat converters by welding in universal cats to 
the stock  header pipe?   I can't see coughing out   $400 for the whole  
setup when Autozone sells universal replacements for $64.  I'm a  circumsized 
welder (hehe) and I do believe if I cut the old ones out with a thin  disk 
grinder, one at a time, I could tack the new ones in, take it down, and  finish 
welding it out.  Has anyone ever tried  this?
