I'm with Bill on this one, same thing happened to my '94. Just flat wouldn't
even click when I went to start it. Battery was dead, not totally unexpected
since one cell had gotten quite weak. But to my surprise, when I dropped the
new one in, still no start. I thought it was the cable too, due to quite a
bit of galvanic corrosion at the battery end. Cleaning and tightening didn't
help. New starter fixed it. Do yourself a favor and get the starter checked
before searching and paying for cable. The Gen 2 cable is a real octopus and
PITA to change in the limited space.
But, I was confused by your followup where you stated it WOULD turn over (too
slowly to start) as long as none of the other electrical accessories were on.
That sounds more like battery than cable. It could be high resistance in
the cable, in pre computer days once you checked the battery you just took a
jumper cable and hooked it straight between the battery and starter to test this,
but that might be a no-no for the SHO.

=========================
Both times I've had a starter go out, it just happened all of a sudden.
It worked fine, till one day, turn the key and nothing. All my
electricals worked fine, I tried jump starting also, and it didn't work.
I never got a click from either starter and they were both on Gen 2s,
but different years. Next time it happens, and if you have the
opportunity, try tapping the starter with a hammer. The only way that I
can think of to test the starter, other then having it on the car, is
connecting it directly to a 12 volt source.
