[Shotimes] Lets play a game what happened to my 3.0

Dave,

What was the temp gage like after the radiator blew?

(Doesn't matter - gage doesn't work if water level is below it...)

Sound's like you fried it - oil control rings, bearings, could be either or both.

If it still runs strong, I'd say heads are probably OK.

I'd be lookin for at least a short block unless you want to tear down and rebuild...

Blame Kris is she was on your hood!

Good Luck,

Mark

> Ok lets see if someone can figure out exactly what happened to this thing before I pull it out and tear it down.
> Started out puffing small amounts of smoke at start up. Then gradually got worse when I was in the throttle and pushed the clutch pedal it would do the James Bond smoke screen. Well not that bad but you get the picture. Was using no oil orginally. then the wife took it in and had it changed at a quaker state quick lube and it started using oil at the rate of a quart every 1500 miles. Then I got it back on the MaxLife and it started getting worse. Now it's a quart every 800 miles. And this week it's just puffing smoke at idle and rolling out at throttle. it's a bluish whitish smoke and smells like burnt oil.
> During this whole debacle. from Feb to Now the radiator blew on me. Emergency situation. and two hours for a tow truck and 9 miles to home. I tossed a bottle of bars leak in it and crossed my fingers got it home. Replaced the waterpump T-Stat. Radiator. flushed the cooling system. Filled with dexcool. and the coolant is now a nice shade of brown.
> The really strange thing is the car runs perfectly fine pulls like a freakin freight train. no hesisitation and the temp does not come out of the L on Normal.
> You know if someone diagnoses this right I'd be willing to pop for a set of Fitz badges for them.
