[Shotimes] removing crankshaft front oil seal

Hi,

I'm my quest to stop oil leaks, I'm now ready to replace the crankshaft front oil seal. Manual says to use a "Locknut pin remover". I don't have such. 

How else can this seal be removed? I tried using my Hook & Pick Set, but that just taers the rubber off little by little. Do I need this "locknut pin remover"?

Then when installing it manual mentions using some special tool (looks like a huge axle nut remover). Again, I don't have this thing. Is it really needed?
