On the subject of the reliability of rod bearings........and longivity:
Snowwind has no bearing issues other than probably pretty worn, I have yet to open him up....and we don't want to do that just for curiousity now do we?
Trick:
Dedicated 3K interval changes of oil
Checking Dip Stick before inserting ignition key.
We can discuss and do frequently on the subject of oil preference......My choice is, frankly, my choice....
Whatever others may choose, I use  Valvoline 5W30 All Climate on the higher mileage 1990,,,,and Valvoline Maxlife 5W30 or 10W30 on the 1991 that has 216K.
