And if you REALLY know your car, and pay attention to the inputs you get from the
pedals, tach and shifter, you can slde it into gear (without the clutch) as well. 
Usually it's not necessary, but once in a while it's a nice feeling to know one is
'connected' to his car.   

That's probably a lot of why it has lasted so long for me.....despite 'assistance'
from other vehicles!
