Didn't appear that anyone answered this, so here goes....
The only ones that require "modification" are the Koni inserts, and it
doesn't sound like you would be interested in those anyway.
Koni inserts: About $554 from Shox.com, and require a good set of strut
housings for installation.
Stock SHO struts: About $640 through SHO Nut
Tokico struts: About $469 from Shox.com
KYB GR-2s: About $209 from Shox.com
Sachs/Boge: About $229 from Shox.com
The Sachs struts are supposed to be the equivalent of the stock SHO strut. I
have KYB GR-2s on my '94 with Eibach springs. They are not as stiff as Konis
or Tokicos with Eibachs (I've had both of those combos), and I like 'em.
Struts are moderately hard to change. And that's if you live in a southern
climate with a car with no rust or corrosion. For northern cars.....it's a
real PITA!! Also need a spring compressor, and air tools are strongly
recommended!!
You also should replace all four strut mounts, as well as the front strut
bearings. $100-150 for those parts. Also, new strut boots, around $10-12
each. The groaning is probably the strut bearings, as bad mounts usually
clunk.

Subject: [Shotimes] Replacement Struts???
I desperately need to replace my struts. I bounce my way to work each day.
Also my front struts groan when it is a little cool out. What is a good
replacement strut that doesn't require much modification??? Are they hard
to change??
Thank you,
Shane Graham
