I believe thatit is just plain old standard pipe thread. 1/2 NPT comes to
mind but might be 3/4 NPT. Take a trip to homedepot if you have another car,
grab a few pipe threaded plugs and try themm out :-) I might have a spare
original one here if you really want an original one back in there. You may
also want to start the car, backup really qick and slam on the brakes. I
misplaced my filler plug one time, and when I did that it fell off of
whereever I had put it and it was under the car after that. So a little
tranny splashed out, but it was a smal price to pay.

Well it started out as a simple oil&filter change, and then decided to drain
and refill the MTX with M1 fluid.
Everything went unususlly smooth untill it was time to replace the MTX
inspection (refill) plug.
Three hours later I gave up, disappeared into thin air. Called the local
Ford dealer and they said part was discontinued. Got one ordered from a
MAZDA dealer and it should be in Friday.
Question, does anyone now the threads on this little sucker? Found a good
online source for any kind of plug but I must know the size. Mazda dealer
said he could'nt garrantee that what he ordered would fit and his book gave
no size. I may be OK, but I never imagined a little part like the MTX
inspection plug would be so difficult to find. Thanks.
