I pictured it falling off and landing in the drivers lap before going off.

That would be painful!

The Taurus stuff doesn't really work at all. The SN95
horn buttons come with the correct mounting posts,
springs and everything you need to get it to work
correctly. I would not try to use any combo. of
hardware store stuff because if that airbag ever goes
off, it will probably blow itself right off of the
steering wheel and through the driver's head.
