I'm sure there is sufficient info. here to guide you to the persons most likely to have the in-depth, allyoueverwantedtoknow, about Brake Upgrades.

I can slide a finger in between the caliper and the 17" wheel. Pretty
nice

Well, although I like staying with the 16" rims, if I were serious
about
track work and getting serious brakes, I would get the rims that would
fit
the BEST brake combo I could get, be that either 17" or 18" rims.
Getting
17" or 18" rims to clear some great brakes is the only reason that I
would
ever get that size of rim, but great brakes make it well worth it.
Superior brakes can be as big of a rush as adding more power to the
car, and
better brakes will drop your lap times quicker than any engine mod.

Also, for those of us who don't/can't run 17s all the
time, 13" rotors are out. The Baer Sport System comes
with 12.5" rotors that can be stuffed into 16s, which
makes it a viable (albeit expensive) option for those
of us who still run 16s. I have heard that the Cobra
PBR setup can be modified to work with the 96 11.6"
rotors, but I haven't been able to gain any
information about it. I'd like to go with the TCE
set, but I think it's just too much money. I guess
I'd pay 1300 for the Baer Sport kit, but not 1500 for
the TCE. Not sure why... What is needed to get those
PBRs to fit with 11.6" rotors?
