There are two different 429s.

There was the Boss 429, that came out with the Boss 302. A Boss 429 Mustang
(or any Ford with that motor) is as rare as any musclecar out there.

There is also the 429-460 engine, which also saw duty in the Torino and a
number of other Ford products.

This engine scenario is not to be confused with the 60s-era body cladding
that was used for NASCAR certification.

69s?  The show was speaking of that model year specifically.  Apparently
in order to convince NASCAR that the motor was truly production, some
Mustangs received that engine too.
