[Shotimes] Burning through oil like crazy

Almost ALL cars have problems with crankshaft seals, front
and rear. The problem is there is no known soft seal that
won't eventually wear from all the friction, and heat causes
even the most modern materials to harden some, and then
there is even wear on the crank itself, where a thin groove
develops over time causing oil to leak around even a new seal.

BUT, NO seal leak, unless it is a steady stream will be a
real contributor to oil use like a quart in 100 miles. That
kind of use would be a LOT of oil leaking, and there would
be zero doubt.

In every case I have seen of excess oil use, it has been the
valve guides going and the seals then go bad. BEcause the
valve guides are worn, even new seals won't help.
