Poor George was double-unlucky. My timing was retarded about this same
amount but the crank itself was not damaged and the new get fit on snugly.

Definitely when you tear into it you should do the whole front engine part
of the 60k, meaning oil seal, timing belt, CPS, and water pump. Long ago
when I did my first 60k I didn't change the water pump. A month later the
water pump started leaking so I had to change it. A couple of months after
that the CPS failed. If I had done the whole job the first time it would
have saved me 2 complete front teardowns. When my crank cancer was
discovered it was at about the time for the second 60k to be due to I just
gathered up everything I needed and did it all.
