New is a better idea.
Only way that I would go with a used one was if I knew the car it came from,
and that it wasn't removed and sitting around for any period of time over a
few days. Also if you knew why it was removed, and if it got hit in an
accident, for example.

Have you looked on ebay? I have seen new ones for about $100. I would not
buy a used one. Too many things could be wrong and then your back to doing
all the work over again if I didn't destroy more of the A/C sysytem!
