CArl,
I have done this a couple times. There are two plugs on the
bottom side of the intake on the throttle body end. These
should come out (If you can get them out, I could only get
one out of my son's intake) and they let you get to the far
corners for a better cleaning.
Be sure to really clean the little holes right behind the
throttle body, they are part of what you get to through
those plugs.
Some pipe cleaners and other small brushes will help, but
just lots of carb cleaner is the main thing. Be sure to
empty the intake completely before re-assembly.
Also, I have not seen evidence that Berrymans removes paint,
but brake cleaner like someone else recommended sure will!
So stick with berrymans or other carb cleaner.
A tip on re-assembly: Leave everything loose when you put
the intake back together. If you tighten it up you won't
get it back on the posts on the heads. Leave it all loose,
and once you get the main intake bolts to the heads tight,
then adjust and tighten all the hoses/clamps. Then do the
support brackets front and back and on the passenger side.
