[Shotimes] Speedometer Cable Lengths

Hey all..

Does anyone have any idea why we have a two piece cable rather than one single one
like SLOs? I know SHOs came that way, and I have replaced prior ones with a factory
two piece. But the RockAuto cable replacements, though showing a two piece set with
the proper fittings (both of which I got), are too long...that is, the longer upper
cable is long enough to go all the way to the speed sensor by itself, making the
lower one apparently unnecessary. Lowrider still isn't back together....the EATC
panel is taking some time...but the upper cable is installed, and looks to be plenty
long enough to do the job by itself. When plugged into the speed sensor, its upper
end is right where it should be to connect to the still removed instrument cluster.

The single RA upper cable is the same length as one I got from an LX wagon at the
PnP.

RockAuto says to let the cables weave around to take up the extra length....there
isn't room to do that in our dashes....the bends would be too sharp, so it would be
noisy and wear out faster.

The factory style upper/lower connection in front of the firewall is right next to
the EGR tube, and it is a lot easier on the cable to hold it (with a zip tie) away
from that tube as opposed to a big plastic plug on a short stub of a cable.

Any thoughts?
