Yep, the thing that makes American Chopper so great is the personality
interaction, and those guys have gotten used to acting naturally with
cameras present. I've watched some of the other bike shows, and they just
don't have the personalities to make the shows work. Indian Larry did,
but.....RIP. The most recent American Hot Rod was good with Boyd competing
with the guys in his shop with two rods driving to the Louisville show, but
other shows like Monster Garage are getting old. Jesse is getting on my
nerves, and I don't watch it much anymore. The Open Road '60s Lincoln
episode was good, though.

I tell my dad that the work problems and the stuff the characters pull on
each other on "Orange County Choppers" and "American Hotrod" is just like
how the characters in his shop act. OTOH it's amazing that the people
working on "Rides" and "Overhaulin" seem so much more efficient and
businesslike. Of course that could be just what they film and how they edit
it.
