FROM SHOFORUM MEMBER:
LOL, thanks for the compliments. I've had a lot of people asking me about
the intake.
Actually its not powdercoat, its painted. The paint is Duplicolor High Heat
w/ Ceramic (1200 degree). The color is Aluminum DH1606. Its like 5 bucks a
can at the autoparts store. The paint would rub off easily before I baked it
in the oven at 400 degrees for 1.5 hrs. It seems to be pretty durable now.
There is a similar color in the 500 degree paint, but it is not the same. I
didn't use any clear.
Before I painted the parts, i spent some time grinding off the casting
marks, media blasting to remove the old paint, and sanding to smooth them
out a little.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the outcome. We'll see how it holds up, but I
think it should be fine. From a distance, it almost looks polished. It also
looks better in person. I'll try to get a pic in the sunlight.
COOL HUH?
Frank
