[Shotimes] Air intake cleaning and resealing cylinder head cover

Here is the current state of affairs at disassembly.  I'm in the process of locating new rubber grommits for the cylinder head covers.  Not planning to remove the covers, just want to address the visible leaks first.  In the first picture, you can see that I've cleaned one of the bolts already as an experiment.

Also, I wouldn't mind replacing the intake gasket as it looks ratty, but maybe I can successfully clean it up.

I'll use the Berrymans R12 and a pipe cleaner on the intake per previous recommendations.

Peering into where the valves are located, I can see what appears to be a white powder on top of the valves.  I believe this would indicate a lean condition.  

While I'm at this point,  I assume it is safe to use the carb cleaner in that area to clean things up.
