Well, I was skeptical, but thanks to Racer X on the TCCA Forums, I have
figured out the problems with the Ford Shop Manual CDs. And for all
interested: I am officially a bonehead. =)

I had been testing the ISOs by mounting them on my Linux machine and
running the install from the mounted image. I guess I must've installed
the first year directly from a CD and then just assumed that mounting
the ISO was just as good as a real CD. Of course, one of the obvious
differences between a bona fide CD and a mounted disc image is the lack
of a volume label (and the bonehead assumption that a Win16 app would be
okay making CD callbacks to a dir on a network drive, vs. a real CD drive).

So, at the end of any other suggestions, I dug out a hard copy of one of
the CDs and installed it from there: voila! Oh well, sorry for all the
unnecessary delays everyone.

NOW: the challenge will be to get the proper volume labels for the discs
for which I only have ISOs. I know the following labels (and will be
posting such on the webpage (http://www.jonheese.com/fordcds/) momentarily):

1992 Car: 92VEH04_0
1994 Car: 94CAR06_0
1995 Car: 95CAR11
1996 Car: 96CAR17
1997 Car: 97CAR22
1998 Car: 98CAR09
2001 Car: 01CAR07 or 01CAR08
2002 Truck: 02TRK02

For all the people who uploaded images for which I don't have volume
labels, I'd appreciate it if you could check the volume label on the
disc and drop me a line. Please irect all email on the matter to
fordcds@jonheese.com.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

Regards,
Jon Heese
