Don't use stainless for that, it will Gaul because of the heat. In 3-5 more
years when that gasket breaks you will still have to snap them off. Just use
a normal grade 2 stuff for this

Steve:
The flex pipe flange gasket is part #F3DZ-5E241-A from Ford or Walker
#31532.
I used stainless steel hardware and replaced all the bolts/nuts/washers at
the flange. They came off in pieces anyway! Lowes carries all the stainless
fasteners you need. Just bring the old stuff with you to match up.
Be aware that the flex pipe can decay from the inside and still leak. My
wife's 93 ATX had this replaced at 150K miles. I got a used one from a low
mileage 95 ATX I found in a junk yard. Otherwise JC Whitney carries a nice
selection of stainless steel exhaust flex piping. You will need to weld your
flange on to the JC Whitney piece.

I get under there and have a little look-see, and there's steam forming at
the exhaust flange (where the y-pipe meets the flex piece - ATX remember).
Much like when you can see your hot breath in cold weather, this must be
"steam" from the hot exhaust hitting the cold air.

should probably replace that too. Problem is, I don't know what this stuff
is called, or where to get it.
