Folks:

Two weeks ago, I completed a suspension renovation that included
replacing all four stock "J" spec Ford springs and Koni inserts, dialed
to the softest setting. Previously, the car was fitted with late 88
vintage OEM "J" springs that had sagged badly and four KYBs that failed
almost completely after 25,000 miles of 'round town driving -- no
weekend campaigning. Does KYB stand for "Kind to Your Buick"?

Preliminary results? Much to the chagrin of the naysayers, the stock
spring / Koni insert combination works great. Ride comfort, ride height,
control and handling are much improved and the car feels as though the
original balance between spring and struts has been restored.

Cost? Huge! Four Ford springs were $325, Strut Cores $30, Konis $544,
Install $200 and $90 for realignment. But, hey. How much are monthly
payments on a new G35 or GTO?
