Does that work even when the EEC thinks it's cold as a witch's half-time
show outside?

If you're checking the fan ONLY, just turn on the a/c. At idle, the fan
comes on, since the car is below the speed where the computer turns it on,
somewhere around 35 or 40 mph. If you're checking the computer for turning
it on when the proper temp is reached, you have to go farther.

But to just check the fan, turn on the a/c.
