I put some time into looking into doing this and I'm not sure it's a good
idea.  If it's for a Gen 2 hood I don't know, I've never seen one up close.
On my Gen 1 hood there didn't look like any good place to mount those kind
of brackets.  Even the plus hood had a reinforced metal frame where the hood
struts mounted to it.  Too bad I didn't keep my trashed hood, I could have
tested some things out on it without worrying about destroying it.  If you
do figure out how to do it, I'd definitly like to hear how you did it, using
a prop rod was a real pain in the ass.
