[Shotimes] cam chains and tensioners

FWIW ... I have seen some recent posts on this both in this forum and on SHO TECH.

I just completed a total tranny ( w/quaife install ) and motor overhaul for a customer in florida.

The new motor was a 23 k 3.2 motor. The customers old motor ... when he brought it to me was making some serious noise in the upper valve train. The customer also had stage I cams too.

I really thought I would find something seriously amiss when I opened the 3.0 motor but to my surprise ... everything was as it should be. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Therefore I surmised that the rattle and heavy ticking noise was a old worn out tensioner and/or chain.

In swapping out the 3.2 cams and installing the stage I cams in the new motor .. I obviously used all of the 3.2, low milage chains and tensioners.

The motor now purrs like if it was new. Very very smooth ... very nice and pulls strong.

Its amazing how much noise these tensioners/chains can make if they are old and worn out.

My .02 cents worth
