The only reason I had to replace mine was because a hole had be worn
though on the filter from it rubbing against the inner fender at the tip
of the filter where the gauze meets the rubber end. The bracket that
Pro-M supplies must not have been bent correctly, I bought mine used
though.

K&N filters have become more commonplace these days. If you have an
Autozone nearby, you'll see what I mean. I could probably buy a
replacement
cone filter from them if I needed it, but realistically if I do the
maintenance as needed, it should last for the life of the car. My guess
is
in line with Ron's in that Pro-M is probably getting a better cost from
their current supplier than they were from K&N which directly translates
to
profit for them.
