I'm glad I snagged the can that Mark Nunnally had on ebay. I have a friend
with some fiberglass skills, would anyone be interested in a "knockoff"
shoshop cold air can. I was thinking about making some of them at some
point.

Mine has a chrome plate at the end that helped with any of that type of
wear. It did manage to deform the cone filter slightly. The best solution
is to find a used Can if you can and do away with that bracket.
