The factory Y pipe is 2 1/4" then the DynoMax is stepped up to 2 1/2" and
stays that way till the mufflers which shrink back to 2 1/4". Just put one
on the wife's 92 in Oct. The stock was 2 1/4" all the way. You won't have a
full 2 1/2" system unless you change the end of the cad Y pipe.

> Hi, I just realized, after having used it for 4y now, that the
Walker/Dynomax cat-back is actually only a 2.25" system, and not a 2.5"
system as I had thought all along. Also, the output pipe of the HiFlow cat
is only 2.25". According to some flowdata that I saw, a 2.25" single-pipe
system will definately restrict the flow of even a slightly modified SHO.
Not by a lot, but it's not optimal. This latest "revelation" makes me wanna
try to make a custom 2.5" exhaust system as follows: 1. move the rear cat 6"
further back to optimize its position. (Apparantly, 12-18" from the exhaust
manifold opening is optimal for a 2.25" cat.)2. replace the two rear cat
pipes with 2.5" pipes.3. make a more tapered merging of the two rear cat
pipes.4. drop the resonator.Have any of you done something similar? Any
comments appreciated. I expect to gain about 5HP from this. I like the
single-pipe configuration, and don't wanna go to dual-pipes. Dual-pipes is
too much work, and the consensus, I be!
