[Shotimes] '89 SHO Dead - Headed to Junkyard Wednesday

Yep, this was my one attempt to save an old SHO!! The car has some
"history", as it was bought new by Randy Smith's dad, then Randy drove it
for a few years, then is was sold to Jim for his daughter's use.
I was hoping to at least get it home, figuring that if it would go the 90
miles from Jim's house to mine, it would be worth looking at. Well, we made
it about 3 miles!! And, it also had to be the coldest night of the year,
with temps showing 4-7 degrees, with some level of well-below-zero
windchill!! Bill Strobel was nice enough to give me a hand getting it back,
but his NC-thinned blood wasn't up for standing in the cold , trying to
jump-start a dead SHO on the side of the road. The car also has a leaking
heater core, so the heater was disconnected. I had to defrost the inside of
the windows with a hair dryer before we left Jim's place, and even with the
defroster blowing single-digit air on the windows, they were beginning to
fog up again in the short drive!
Plus, a guy in a dually pickup truck sideswiped my SHO and kept driving, but
it looks like the rub marks on the LR quarter should buff out!!
Hate to let a good tranny, subframe, and other miscellaneous parts hit the
crusher, but I took the dying motor and then the dead, smoking starter to be
a "sign"!!

Guys,
Thanks for the interest. The SHO died on Ron trying to
take it home. He made an effort. I took it back and
had it towed home.
It does not run now. Might just be the starter burned
up or might be a siezed engine. It gets towed to Town
& Country Autoparts in Ann Arbor or Saline Michigan on
Wednesday. Typical junk yard deal - no $$$ but they
tow it away.
Probably be seeing everyone when I get back one of my
Gen III's I sold to my folks, or *if* I can convince
them to weld the cams.
Or maybe I will see Ron at a track day if I can ever
get something worth running! Had a dry spell lately -
company car is a Tracker!!!!
-Jim
