This is a clip from another email that I just sent seperately to Don.

(clip)You are precisely correct in that the Forrestal was CV-59. Forrestal
was the first carrier with an angled deck for launching jet craft, and it
was the first carrier made after the navy dropped the CVA (attack
carrier)/CVE (carrier escort) nomenclatures. Following the Forrestal was the
Saratoga, then the ranger (cv-61) and the independence (cv-62). Following
that was a new class of carrier, the Kitty Hawk class, only one of which
remains, its namesake, the Kitty Hawk (cv-63). There was also the
Constellation (cv-64), which was the last carrier to be built before the
Enterprise (cvn-65), which was the first nuclear carrier. The navy then
waffled back and forth on the nuclear concept with the America (cv-66)
(kitty hawk class), then the John F Kennedy (cv-67, its own class, the only
one built), then the navy finally stuck with nuclear boats, beginning with
the Nimitz, then the Eisenhower, Vinson, Roosevelt (home!), Lincoln,
Washington, Stennis, Truman, Reagan, and now Bush, being constructed.

Did I mention I'm big into naval history? The website I use for all my
research is http://www.globalsecurity.org. It's an awesome website, and I
highly recommend you check it out. click on the 'military' link on the left
of the page to get into research mode.(/clip)

Nope...Forrestall was 59. Ranger was 60 or 61...I'll check.

I'll get the rest in a few minutes. But Enterprise is 65. Stennis is 70.
Kennedy
is 74.
