John:
I have my LPM set up to NOT modify the line pressure at all from stock. I
have a FPS ATX with the TransGo shift kit. I had Doug L. build it to take
anything up to and including a blower or nitrous. I have since backed off
from the blower idea mainly because of Ben B.'s experiences and comments. I
have a very hard 1-2 shift at any throttle opening but a very nice 2-3 and
3-4 shift. Downshifting is also great. I would also like to tone down the
1-2 shift but have not been able to find out how. Even after I had Ted B.
reburn the LPM to leave the line pressure alone the 1-2 shift did not change
much that I could tell. I think mine is due to the internal tranny mods. My
wife's ATX was also built by Doug L. with the TransGo kit but I told him to
just make it a great "stock" transmission. This unit shifts superbly with no
harsh 1-2 shift or any other anomalies. Flat out accelerating it will chirp
the tires on the 1-2 shift but at low to normal throttle openings it is nice
and quick and firm but no harshness at all. This car is stock and still has
the H3Z1 PCM with NO LPM too! Now I think this would have been a better
route for my SHO also.
I am considering building a external line pressure adjuster as Ben B. has
but don't know if that would help or not.

My car is almost identical to yours. I have UDP's and a 2" true dual
exhaust in addition to your mods. I use Redline Synthetic ATX fluid. My
wife's SHO uses Mobile 1 synthetic ATX.

The EPC (Electronic Pressure Controller) measures and adjusts the line
pressure so any variations from internal transmission differences should be
adjusted out.

I hope you can find something out on this. I did not and have just lived
with it! I have had 3 different programs for my LPM so far and right now
have run this one for almost 3 years. I thought with more mileage the tranny
might change somewhat but I have about 55K miles on it and no changes yet.
It's too bad Ford did not put the TransGo kit in from the factory. I think
they would have made money on the deal!
