Yes for as many miles that were on the tranny, the OD clutch was burnt.
This was due to an extra spring being installed by the rebuilder. Why I do
not know. This was also the fluid that when I drained it out was full of
fibers.

IIRC, though, the OD clutch was dragging pretty seriously when Tom looked at
it during the teardown. Regardless, it still isn't anywhere near-normal to
blacken the fluid within that mileage.

The tranny didn't have issues, the TC failed (I think) and the TCC was bad.
Tranny was taken apart and other than a dragging OD clutch and a bur or two
all was well. I changed this fluid after getting home from the 2002
convention. I also had it tested and they said it was still good???? The
TC failed in the fall of that year the TCC failed about 4 months later.
