Have you ever even KISSED at girl?
I love that bit. There are people who take everything a bit too seriously. Somehow, Star Trek has gathered them all in one place. Have you ever heard Johnathan(Will Riker)Frakes talk about going to ST Conventions? That's funny. But, he says he keeps doing it because 1)these people are big enough fans to actually get off their butts and come see him, 2) it keeps him employed, and 3)its better than looking for alien autopsy evidence...

Several years ago, when the STar Trek movies first came out,
I joined a local Trek Club. WE didn't wear "ears" and
stuff, but met at a local church and watched taped shows,
played some of the Trek games and just had general
discussions/trivia fun. Usually had Romulan ale available.
(water or soda water, with blue dye). Also I attended one
Trek event (not really a convention though) where I got to
meet the actor that played Hugh the Borg. (not one of the
things that will define my life, but interesting).
Most fun was getting prime seating for the club at movie
premiers in the area, and being able to hoot and hollar and
have fun at the first screening. I miss that, the club
hasn't been around in a long time, I only went for short while.
I am a big Trek fan, and read the books all the time, have
the movies and look for Trek actors in other shows (fun
trivia to remember what episode they were in).
These people (the Klingon wedding) are having fun. No worse
than weddings under water, or when jumping out of airplanes,
or on Harleys, or at SHO conventions! (we need our first
wedding...who is going to step up, can you see the caravan
of honking SHO's after the wedding!).
Good for the Klingons, they will remember their wedding and
so will their guests. (and a lot of people on the
internet). :)
The Saturday Night Live routine had Shatner telling a
convention audience: "Get a Life" or something like that
and it is part of why the Star Trek world is so durable and
great, that the creators and fans all have a sense of humor
and (usually) know reality from fantasy. :)
