[Shotimes] OT for the Star Trek geeks

In dealing with movies, TV, etc, there are people who love the Matrix
series, that Rings thing, etc, and that's fine....they are entitled to like
what they like. The ST thing has just gone above and beyond from the view of
those of us who, if we were being subjected to torture, would select
episodes of "Saved By The Bell" over ANY ST show or movie!!
When Shatner (sp?) himself thinks that it's out-of-hand.....and not just on
SNL, but he's also done other talk shows......and this is even when he still
rakes in dough from these rubes, it is a very bizarre activity.

Apparently someone was never a kid... ;)
Of course, if you're not into sci-fi to being with, you're probably not
gonna be able to appreciate it anyways.
Ron has a good point, but so does David. Entertainment aside, there were a
/lot/ of good ideals and great scientific "inventions", if you will, that
came from the Star Trek franchise. If not for the creative thinking of
Gene, Okuda, Sternbach and the rest of the team, we wouldn't have many of
the advancements and gadgets that we do today, plain and simple. The same
comparison applies to the military technology of yore which has now been
adapted and applied for us at the consumer level. If not for some of those
military projects, we wouldn't have a lot of the things we do today.
Whatever turns your crank, I guess. I'm a Trekkie for life, can't help it.
I love all the ST series and have made TNG my personal favorite. Some of
my only gripes are how they've written the movies. What's with making the
(possibly) last TNG movie in the series a film about chasing Picard's evil
clone around the quadrant and then killing Data, only to have him live on
in his "underdeveloped" brother B-4? Puh-leeze! If they had made a movie
with Q as the bad guy, it would've been 100x better. Of course, they
should've made a series with George Takei about Sulu commanding the
Excelsior, but that's a rant for another day...
