Shylo,
I ship stuff all over the place, and deal with several
companies. Let me tell you that NOBODY can ship 6-7 pounds
ANYWHERE, for a dollar. You got a great deal, but you can't
expect everyone to do that.
In the case of the headlight stuff mentioned here, the item
is probably not over 2 pounds, you can look at my numbers
below to see that this person is using shipping/handling as
a profit center, and that is done a lot. It is also
interesting that he charges LESS shipping if you order over
his web site (to make up for the e-bay fee plus a bit more
it looks like).
I would be VERY leary of this product. Almost anytime
anyone makes extravegant claims, the item is a scam. Anyone
tried it?
Look below to get an idea of what actual shipping costs are
these days.
For example, from Illinois, to ship 6 pounds to the next
house, or city by USPS Priority Mail, it is $6.30. To ship
the same package to California or the east coast would be
$11.30 with the amount varying inbetween.
Take that same package by UPS Ground and it is $5.11 nearby,
up to $6.90 to the coasts. UPS is a lot cheaper for
packages over about 3 pounds over any distance. Priority
Mail is cheaper for packages 2 pounds or under and up to 3
pounds or so if not going far.
In my business I use a combination to give my customers the
lowest price, but I charge them the actual shipping plus a
buck or so for my trouble and the box (usually 50 cents or
more) plus packing materials.
